Made this quilt for a Zoom class called Essentials of Complex Curves taught by Patricia Belyea. I wanted to learn to insert circles into a larger design and this class explained how: with freezer-paper templates and much good advice for making patterns with curved areas in general. The process worked better for me when I made some sections with templates but didn’t try to design the entire piece in advance. The circle at lower left (finished diameter 3.25”) was too small to stitch by machine and I had to sew it by hand. Also, as usual, I didn’t leave enough finishing room at the edges of the blocks.
