Midcentury Modern Vases

Cotton fabrics, craft papers, satin ribbon, cotton embroidery floss. Fusible web appliqué collage.  
The base for this piece was a table napkin, discovered too late to have been improperly cut along the grain of the fabric. Random vases did not fuse as well as others and had to be reattached with glue. Some of the ribbon pieces also frayed alarmingly but not until I had already attached them, so I had to decide which would be worse: trying to remove them or trying to fix them. Fixing them seemed less risky and Aleene's tacky glue did a good job of arresting the problem. The plant embroidery is just on the surface layer; white lines are quilting through all three layers.
