Cotton fabrics, 1-strand cotton floss, postage stamps.
Technical challenges:  This project began as another adventure at textileartist.org: making a stitch portrait based on a photograph. Used a 1940s black-and-white photo of my Dad and his two younger brothers as the starting point. (They are all much more attractive than my rendering.) My Dad had a large stamp collection and it was fun to pick out stamps from the era of this photo to commemorate a time when imperfect but intelligent, well-meaning adults ran the country. Attached the stamps without thinking about their perforated edges. Was able to scrape off the extra adhesive goop from both the quilt top and the appliqué sheet but it would have been smarter to just use smaller pieces of fusible web.
